What a fabulous way to begin the summer with my hometown rodeo in Belt, Montana! I was lucky enough to ride my own horse, which made the two day rodeo even better! It was a typical grand entry and the normal role of clearing the arena in the Steer Wrestling and Tie-down roping, but Mr. Jj Harrison changed things up a bit! He kept the crowd entertained, as the rodeo clown with his fat suit event and rode my horse, while in the fat suit to prove that he was qualified to be the Miss Belt Rodeo Queen. We were blessed with beautiful weather both days in Belt and I got to meet some wonderful ladies at the 3rd annual Miss Rodeo Montana Horsemanship clinic. I met some of the Red Lodge Home of the Champions rodeo royalty and other wonderful ladies who participated in the clinic. I rode with Miss Rodeo Montana and the newly crowed High School Rodeo Queen, Kaitlin Kolka, during the belt rodeo. There was also a pancake breakfast, parade and a kiddie rodeo I attended.

The next weekend I drove the 150 miles to Chinook, Montana for the Bear Paw Roundup Rodeo. The rodeo committee kept Miss Rodeo Montana, Miss Big Sky and myself very busy during both rodeo performances. Brookman Rodeo Company was very generous and let me barrow their horse Scooter for both nights. Miss Rodeo Montana and I also helped put on two kiddie rodeos. Although it was a little windy, there was no rain and it was beautiful both nights! The Bear Paw Roundup consisted of woman's calf dressing, muttin bustin, late to the rodeo trailer racing and many other fun events which made this rodeo unique.

After Saturday's rodeo performance in Chinook, mom and I got up early Sunday morning and headed to Augusta for the Augusta American Legion Rodeo. This is one of the largest one-day rodeos in Montana. The annual Augusta Rodeo features a parade, the Old-Time Wild Cow Milking and a rodeo. I complained about the wind in Belt and Chinook and got absolutely no wind in Augusta on a very hot day. Miss Rodeo Montana and myself participated in the grand entry, where I carried the Canadian flag. We were accompanied by two marvelous Canadian trick riders and one of Kesler Rodeo's pickup men. The crowd was pack and the 50/50 made out to a winner of $3000. I also had the opportunity to push cattle in Augusta and was provided with a wonderful horse from Sue Thompson. Cody and I got along great and I look forward to riding him again down the road.

Next up is the Livingston Rodeo for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th of July!
